March 2010, Faith
Eric Armstead
Here is another talented musician, songwriter, and singer in the city of Fredericksburg. After working with his brother for many years, Eric decided to move on and start his own group in 1993. He believed in being submissive to leadership but wanted to be able to put his own signature on music as most musicians do. “One God” is the first real song that he wrote. This is Eric’s interview.
33: Why Fredericksburg?
Eric: God has called me to be a teacher of music and it is my season to be here. [He also told me that we need to have a better understanding of how God wants it done in Fredericksburg and the only way to achieve that is by listening to the voice of God.]
33: One goal for 2010?
Eric: To serve more. [Eric believes that God has commissioned us as singers and musicians to serve others first.] It’s not about what we want, but what God wants for his people.
33: What keeps you inspired?
Eric: [Eric loves the Church Choir. He enjoys the looks on parent’s faces as they watch their children sing their hearts out.] Just being able to see the choir members finally understand why they are singing is a blessing.
33: Encouragement to other local artists?
Eric: The anointing doesn’t reside in the talent, but in the Word. Study the Word and seek God.
I would like to wish Eric a Happy Birthday. Psalmist Eric Armstead would like to invite you to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 6030 Harrison Road, Fredericksburg, Va. on Sunday March 7, 2010 at 3:00pm. Eric and the Voices of Celebration will be in concert.
