Photographer: Melissa "Missy" Colombo

As a child, Missy spent many countless hours following around her step-dad Larry at his commercial photography studio in Pennsylvania.  With two of his 70s Minolta cameras, 3 lenses and a pat on the back, she left for Architecture school at Virginia Tech in 1992.  It was the late nights in the Cowgill Hall darkrooms and Plaza model shoots that shaped her beginnings as a photographer.

In 2002, after a year long excursion shooting landscapes from a '75 VW camper (it broke down A LOT,) Missy settled in Fredericksburg to continue her architecture career.  A few years later, she started 'moussaka design and photography', a multi-disciplined, one-woman business that provides Architecture, Graphic Design and Photography services.  The documentation of musical performances became the focus due to its excitement of a continually changing palette.

Missy can be seen at most venues in the Fredericksburg, Richmond, DC and Charlottesville areas...sporting a smile and her beloved camera.  On some occasions, she finds herself on stage playing bass with her Richmond band, The Seven Minutes, wondering how she could get some really cool shots from up there.
